The place is called Karachi Darbar. The signage apart, the food is excellent. To die for roti's on top of that. You can just eat the roti's and nothing else, they are so delicious and very inexpensive.

Really good. Wish I was there, to sample the mut and the chi!

Ha ha ha...brilliant observation my pal. I was a Karachi Durbar regular for the first 4-5 months here and never noticed it. Guess the fantastic biryanis and amazing butter chicken with rotis diverted my attention. Chimut! Mutchi!

Is Karachi Darbar in Sharjah or in Dubai? Me coming!!

Shanty, does that mean you are no longer a regular? But why?? Given up such yummy grub!!

Dear Anon, I was a regular cause I was just 5 minutes away from a Karachi Durbar. Now I'm 15 minutes away and not even a sizzling mix grill can wean my fat body from the comfort of my bean bag. Besides Karachi Durbar's home delivery takes longer than a flight to Karachi. So, I've put off my guilt trip for the time being :-)

Hey wanted to post this on your "Scenes from a mall" post, but was not sure if you would notice it as it was so long ago.

There is this NY waiter who writes about his daily experiences: he is hugely popular and is currently writing a book, but his style is remarkable: and in some ways, very similar to yours: conversations strung together with observations and deductions from what others say.

Take a look:

Arre Anonymous,

Agar woh bol raha hai ki, "Basanti main aa raha hun", to bas ek hi insaan ho sakta hai. Aur uska naam Viru hai.
