What makes women so insecure about the way they look?
What makes them such suckers for anything beauty related - fairness creams, face wash, moistureisers, wrinkle removal creams, contour firming gels, hair colour etc.

Because most women are never satisfied with the way they look. Even when a woman is able to nearly forget about her looks some friendly helpful soul will gently mention,' You look tired' or have you gained weight. It doesn't matter that you didn't ask in the first place.
The other reason is the image of a woman as projected in the media. Perfect skin, streaked hair, perfect body. The insecurity that the only way to keep your man interested in you is by being a perfect physical speciman...
The worst of it is that a lot of the times it's women themselves who are critical of each other thus causing all sorts of insecurities...
